Customised Tours

We often get enquiries from visitors who want to visit particular sites which are not included in our standard tours. Because we are flexible and can adapt our standard tours or design a special tour, we are able to meet these individual requests. These are but some of the different places we have explored with interested visitors:

  • Mandela Square and Sandton CBD which has grown since the first office buildings were developed here in the 1970s; a fascinating counterpoint to downtown central Joburg
  • Joburg’s markets such as Neighbourgoods in Braamfontien on a Saturday and Norwood Rooftop Market on a Sunday (the old Rosebank Rooftop Market)
  • Maboneng Precinct with Arts on Main
  • Braamfontien (the northern part of Joburg’s inner city) and the various regeneration initiatives
  • Satyagraha House in Orchards where Gandhi lived while in Johannesburg
  • Origins Centre at Wits University – a jewel of a museum on the origins of humankind; ideal if you cannot visit the Cradle of Humankind
  • Wits Art Museum which has an excellent collection of contemporary South African art as well as wonderful traditional pieces
  • Jan Smuts House and Museum in Irene near Pretoria
  • Time to kill in between flights? We will meet you off your inbound flight and take you to explore what Joburg and Gauteng has to offer, whether it’s sightseeing, shopping or just getting a feel for the city and its suburbs. Then we’ll drive you back to the airport in time for the check-in on your onward flight.

We also have access to guides who have specialist areas of expertise for example

  • Heritage houses in Parktown and Westcliff
  • Art and craft buying
  • We also arrange tours throughout South Africa by special request.
