ABOUT JOHANNESBURG
Johannesburg also known as Jozi, Joburg, or Egoli (meaning the City of Gold) is the provinical capital of Gauteng and is the economic and commercial hub of South Africa. It is also South Africa’s largest city with the greater metropolitan area of Johannesburg having a population of over 12 million. It is a very sprawling city with many different nodes and neighbourhoods.

TOUR DESCRIPTION:
After our JOHANNESBURG CITY HALF DAY TOUR we
- Enjoy lunch at an outdoor restaurant in 44 Stanley Avenue in Auckland Park. 44 Stanley Ave is a private urban regeneration project where a previous milling district has been converted into premises for creatives and designers with wonderful speciality shops and restaurants.
- We have a walk down the high street of Melville another vibrant neighbourhood famous for its shopping, restaurant and night-life.
- Then there are various choices depending on your interests:
- We can visit the SAB World of Beer (tours are approximately 1.5 hours)
- Wits Art Museum houses the best collection of Southern African art and artefacts
- Origins Museum is also on Wits Campus and has excellent exhibits giving insights into the origins of humankind
- We could go to the new upmarket and glitzy Central Business District of Sandton, home to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, Mandela Square, as well as modern contemporary buildings which house the headquarters of many of South Africa’s big businesses (the richest per sq km area in Africa.)
