A visit to the Pilanesberg Game Reserve is a must. Two and a half hours from Joburg it is the fourth largest game park in South Africa, is malaria-free and is home to the big 5 as well as giraffe, zebra, hippos and crocodiles and many antelope species. There are excellent bird watching opportunities with over 300 species having been recorded in the area

TOUR DESCRIPTION:
Please remember to bring your cameras. Water will be provided and also use of binoculars.
- We enjoy a scenic 2.5hr drive with the Magaliesberg Mountains as back drop to the Hartebeesport Dam. Here we’ll stop at the Chameleon African craft market.
- We then drive on to the Pilanesberg where we’ll start our game drive at around 10.
- We’ll break for lunch at a nearby restaurant.
- At around 5 we leave to start our return drive home
Should you wish to join a game drive run by Sun City or any other lodge in an open game-viewing vehicle for a 2.5 – 3 hour drive, an extra cost of +/- R400 is incurred.
Should you wish to visit Sun City we can stop on the way for refreshments. Sun City is a Vegas style hotel and theme park complex on the edge of the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. There are 4 hotels in the complex including the 5 star Palace of the Lost City, a world class golf course designed by Gary Player, an entertainment centre and the Valley of the Waves with a sandy beach, man-made 1.8 metre waves and many water rides.
